Courtney Barnett albums generally tend to split the difference between immediate pleasures and growing appreciation. Like collaborator and BFF Kurt Vile, who's obvious stylistic influence permeates much of Things Take Time, Take Time — just listen to album opener "Rae Street," it might as well have been a reference track for Wakin On A Pretty Daze — there are multitudes in her jingles that seemingly come off as casual anecdotes. She's so conversational at times it belies her emotional depth. Listening to Things Take Time, Take Time is like dipping your feet in a kiddy pool only to find it's deep as the ocean.
