Jack White's second album of the year feels self-indulgent, which for most artists would be a critique. But part of what has set White apart from his guitar wielding ilk since the end of his White Stripes tenure is the obvious sincerity in his music. Where some rockstars may want to hear themselves play guitar, it's apparent that White is more interested in hearing the music his guitar makes through him. Entering Heaven Alive is a spritely acoustic companion piece to the delightfully peculiar Fear Of The Dawn, with the former finding White in a brighter (though not necessarily more fun) zone than the nocturnal latter.
