Regina's indie prince continues his victory lap with Wilds, the follow up to last year's breakthrough Neon Skyline. Shauf's greatest strength is his wit, and his penchant for the darkly humorous (ex. "Jaywalker"). It's a little more, let's say, unhinged, than the taught Neon Skyline. There's shades of Prine or Bridgers in there, with his quips being followed by a wink to let the listener know that it's all good. Depending on how the Roughriders fare this weekend, Shauf may be the most compelling thing coming out of Saskatchewan this year.
