Before ushering in the mid 2010’s Disco-Revival with Random Access Memories and creating the soundtrack to every wedding, grad ceremony, club night and birthday party with Discovery, Daft Punk were vanguards of the no-frills, straight-up House scene that ruled the day in their native France in the 1990s. Fuelled by the nonstop MTV rotation of crossover singles like “Da Funk” and “Around the World”, Homework introduced House music to the rest of the world and it’s DNA can still be heard today in clubs, rave tents, music festivals, or any set of bass-boosted car speakers that you can hear from blocks away, for better or worse. Regardless of any ill-advised cultural products that have been inspired by this album, that doesn’t take away from how great the album itself is. It rips.
