Another classic from Blue Note made in the fabled Van Gelder Studios, Go brings together a cast including literal and metaphorical jazz giant Dexter Gordon on saxophone and a backing band including the late great Sonny Clark on piano, who passed away less than a month after the album’s original release in December 1962. Go offers the ambience of a nightclub set with the hold band in a relaxed mood as Gordon’s horn lines tie together the song’s unhurried atmosphere. This reissue comes from the Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series and includes a mastering from Tone Poet series architect Kevin Gray. The meticulous mastering work from Gray keeps every bit of the smoothness and loose atmosphere of the original intact.
