Backed up by one of the greatest music videos of the 90s, Jamiroquai’s Travelling Without Moving is unquestionably the most famous Acid Jazz album of all time and, according to the Guiness Book of World Records, the best-selling funk album of all time. Though what is and isn’t a funk album is a topic of debate for another newsletter, what isn’t debatable is how breezily tropical this album still sounds a quarter century on from it’s release. Traveling Without Moving is perhaps the closest thing an album can get to approximating the feeling of lazing around on a beach with a drink-in-hand as you listen to the waves gently crash ashore. While there’s no category in the Guiness Book of World Records for that, we know which album has our vote.
