While this is the first release under her own name from Indie rock-lifer Julie Doiron in nearly a decade, that doesn’t mean she hasn’t kept herself busy in the meantime. She’s re-recorded some of her previous work in Spanish, she made reinterpretation of Bob Dylan’s criminally-underrated early 80s album Infidels and leaned her voice to an album with longtime friend and collaborator Phil Elverum of Mount Eerie on 2019’s Lost Wisdom Part Two. I Thought of You shows Doiron’s songwriting chops haven’t diminished a tad in the time away, with her country rock shuffle and confessional lyrics packing the same punch here that they did when she was first making her name with Eric’s Trip in the early 90s.
