Nancy & Lee is among the least likely albums to succeed. That is succeeded as some strange pop-country-psych crossover is even less likely. Sinatra, the well-to-do daughter of Frank and erstwhile pop starlet; Hazelwood, the gruff, sometime cowboy curmudgeon with a taste for illicit substances and lush string arrangements. But somehow it works — the chemistry is never more evident than the rendering of lyrics to banter as on the Everyly Brothers cover "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'. "Some Velvet Morning" oscillates between serene and three sheets to the wind. The whole album can be found somewhere between high and low, sweet and stoned.
