Besides singing, songwriting, and elite late-night TV guitar-smashing, Phoebe Bridgers has shown a knack for consolidating seemingly contradictory aesthetics. For example Copycat Killer, her latest EP, refreshes some of her most introverted songs as large-scale, orchestral productions. The new arrangements go a long way to opening-up Bridgers' meticulously crafted worlds, without giving up any of darkly humorous melancholy. It's a dark and pretty, and more than a bit ironic — like a fuzzy skeleton onesie.
