Shannon & The Clams' previous album, 2018's Onion, was definitely two things, and may very well have been a third:
1. It was produced by the Black Keys Dan Auberbach, who lent the Oakland retro-rockers the same garage-y grit on which he made a career.
2. It was a very good fun.
(Maybe) 3. It may very well have been a Shrek pun (Ogres, as you know, are like onions. You need more proof? The hand on the cover is green. Ogres, as you know, are also green. It's bulletproof.
Year of the Spider is also being produced by Dan Auerbach, and keeps in line with the low-stakes fun of its predecessor, which makes it a great candidate to spin out the remainder of your summer too. Whether it's also an homage to a beloved Dreamworks Animations® character remains to be seen.
