Recorded before the unexpected passing of Sadies guitarist Dallas Good earlier this year, Colder Streams acts as a fitting swan song for the fallen six-stringer. While the album's lyrical preoccupation with mortality can sound almost eerie in light of Good’s passing, the band sounds energetic and rejuvenated here on what was their first new release in five years. Tracks like “So Far So Few” and “No One’s Listening” brim with an urgency and energy you would expect from a band half their age. While it is uncertain where the Sadies go from here, Colder Streams acts as a brilliant send off to Good and another in a long line of great albums made by the Sadies in their three decade-plus career.
