After rocketing herself to indie-stardom with last year's Ignorance. Tamara Lindeman, who records and releases music as The Weather Station has released a companion-piece of sorts to one of last year's most acclaimed albums. How Is It That I Should Look at the Stars offers a flip-side to Ignorance’s meditations on love and climate change. While she tackles the same big topics here she does so on a much-smaller scale. Where the shuffling arrangements of Ignorance recall indie-stalwarts like The War on Drugs, this album features little more than a piano and Lindeman’s voice that rarely rises above a whisper, giving these heavy topics an intimacy that brings an added weight to her songwriting.
