Rightfully praised as one of the foremost progressives in hip-hop, Tyler, The Creator's got a sound grip on nostalgia for such an envelope pusher. Call Me If You Get Lost, the #barz heavy follow-up to his pop-opus IGOR, is caught up in the rearview, with a longing eye on the early-2000's rap blogosphere — specifically distribution sites such as Datpiff, HNHH, 2dopeboyz and the early days of Soundcloud. It's a reminder, both of the fact that:
a) when he puts down his synths, Tyler can still rap with the best of them
b) DJ Drama is an international treasure, and his DJ tag is embedded in the collective memory of millennial/zoomer hip hop heads. He needs to be protected at all costs.
