The first two Country Funk volumes were released by LITA in 2012 and 2014 respectively, meaning it's been too damn long since one of our favourite labels reintroduced us to the slicker side of the hoedown. Vol. 3 is curated by Jason Morgan & Patrick McCarthy (produced Vol. 1 & 2), who chose a roster of recognizable names (Conway Twitty, Dolly Parton, etc.), whose spurs, here, spin to something far closer to disco than the acoustic honky tonk we've come to know them for. Among the reliable jangle of banjos and stirrups are electric keys and synths, transmissions from an era soon-to-come. It's a melding of the Wild West and the Space Age — Cowboys & Aliens, except Daniel Craig is Tony Joe White, and the aliens are the dance floor.
