Over two decades on from its release and over a year on since Daft Punk’s breakup Discovery still sounds like the future. In spite of the continuing ubiquity of so many of its bigger tracks (you would be hard-pressed to get through a wedding reception without hearing “One More Time” at this point and “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” can be heard everywhere from night clubs to grocery stores in either its original or Kanye-sampled form) the album still hasn’t grown stale on repeat listens and their ability to turn source material like Barry Manilow horn-lines into perfect, club-ready pop is unparalleled.
