Spalding's eighth album is one of healing, in a very literal sense. In advance of recording, Spalding banded together an affiliation of musicians and health practitioners to explore the possibilities of healing music, musical therapy neuroscience, and oodles of other concepts that fly well above our heads. Songwrights Apothecary Lab is the culmination of those collaborative efforts a survey of human experiences made to soothe and bring about specific emotions. A very human, tender #pandemicalbum indeed.
