On 36 Chambers, Raekwon aptly describes the GZA as "the Genius. He's the backbone." His love of chess and Kung Fu B-movies played an equally important role in the groups aesthetic as RZA's grimy production, and so, in accordance to the tao of the Wu, Liquid Swords is a calculate crime opera with a touch of zen. GZA's world is one of Ronin and mob bosses, somewhere between Scorsese and Kurosawa. It remains the most quintessentially Wu Tang album of the Clan's expanded universe.
