The nostalgia-tinged folk-rockers return with the expansive double album Long Lost. Where their past work recalled the work of other melancholy acoustic guitar-driven acts like Phoebe Bridgers or Shakey Graves, this album draws on the reverb-drenched rock and country music of the 50s’ and 60s’ with echoing guitar, jaunting rhythms, soaring strings and a western-steeped melodrama characterizing the tracks. The group shows a reverence for the source material they are drawing from on the album but keep their modern sensibilities intact with a warmth and sleekness to the album that centers it clearly in the present while paying tribute to the past.
